Gary Michael "Mike" Hayes 70 years old passed from this world to Heaven on Wednesday May 26, 2021. Mike was born on March 16, 1951 to Forrest and Evelyn Counts Hayes in Tahlequah Oklahoma.

He grew up in Muskogee, Oklahoma and graduated from Central High School in 1969. He graduated college 2 years later then moved to Nashville, Tennessee. He worked for Randall House Publications after moving to Nashville.

While working at Randall house he met Sue. She was working as a secretary and he was in the printing department. After a whirlwind romance they were married in 1972 and had 2 daughters, Angela and Rachael. He moved from Randall House to Precision Color where he worked in graphic design until his retirement in 2017. He loved going to church and was a regular attender at The Donelson Fellowship and was at one point a Deacon at the Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church.

He loved his life group, cooking, baking, watching movies, watching SEC sports, especially Vanderbilt and just being with his girls. He is preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Evelyn Counts Hayes; and his brother, Connie Mack Hayes.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sue; daughters, Angela and Rachael Hayes; brother, Robert Hayes (Lena) several nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. He passed peacefully at his home after a courageous 8-year battle with cancer. He will be greatly missed.

One of his favorite verses in the Bible is Psalm 23:4, Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for you are with me your rod and your staff they comfort me.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel, 5852 Nolensville Road by Dr. David Crowe.

Interment Christ Church Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 p.m. at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel.
