Joyce Dudley Booker, 84, of Lynchburg and long-time resident of Altavista, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2015, at the Valley View Retirement Center. She was the wife of the late Leslie "Creed" James Booker. Born July 26, 1931, in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late John Samuel Dudley and the late Elizabeth Cliabourne Dudley.
Joyce was a hairdresser and a homemaker. She was a loving daughter, wife, sister and aunt.
In addition to her husband and parents, Joyce was preceded in death by two siblings, Alton Ray Dudley and Margie Dudley Allred.
Joyce is survived by a sister-in-law, Mrs. Myrtle Fore and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside inurnment will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 17, 2015, at Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Bobby Brumfield officiating.
There will be no visitation hours at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or to a charity of one's choice.
