Michael "Mike" Eugene O'Brien, 73, of Clemmons, NC, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 22, 2021 in Winston-Salem, NC surrounded by his family.

Mike was born in Forsyth County on September 28, 1947 to Philip and Mildred O'Brien.

He was a former Winston-Salem Police Officer and retired from the Winston-Salem Fire Department.

Mike loved playing golf and watching sports. He always looked forward to going on fishing trips with his Cape 10 crew. Mike was also a part of the chain crew for the Wake Forest football team for 25 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Mike leaves behind his two children, David O'Brien (Angie) of Advance, NC and Katie Carlton (Zack) of Advance, NC; four grandchildren, Rylie and Colton O'Brien and Braeden and Chandler Carlton all of Advance, NC.

Mike is also survived by one sister, Vickie Brophy (Jim) of Oak Island, NC; and a niece, Sarah Blevins (Ben) of Winston-Salem, NC.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Forsyth Memorial Park at the Gazebo, with Pastor Truett Williams officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 134 S. Peace Haven Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27104. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Al Fausch and Mike Livengood for their friendship to Mike over the years.
