Dorothy E. (Nageotte) Berry, age 94, of Erie died on Monday, May 24, 2021 after a long illness. She was born on March 30, 1927 in Mount Sterling, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Professor Joseph Nageotte and Jessie (Brenot) Nageotte.
Dorothy was raised in Guys Mills, Pa. and graduated from Randolph and Cochranton high schools. She trained as a nurse at Spenser Hospital in Meadville and practiced her profession in Erie for over thirty years.
She is survived by her husband of 73 years, James F. Berry of Erie; children Cindy Blum, husband John of Richmond, Texas and James F. Berry, Jr., wife Debbi of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. She is also survived by grandchildren and great grandchildren: Sean Blum, wife Scout and son Aidan, Neal Blum, Jaime Benoliel, husband Ishmael and daughters Madeleine and Helena, Cristin Hinkelman, husband Chris, daughter Ella and son Emmett, Kathleen Baer, husband Johnnie, daughter Lily and son Milo. Dorothy is also survived by a sister Patricia Spangler.
In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her sisters, Marjorie Rose Nageotte and Julia McBride, brothers, Guy Nageotte and Joseph Nageotte and her dear aunt, Zita Roche.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday at Our Lady of Peace Church, 2401 West 38th Street, at 10 a.m. Burial will be private in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street, is assisting with arrangements. Condolences may be sent at www.bruggerfuneralhomes.com.
