Daniel Vincent Ryan, 97, of Temperance, Michigan, died Saturday, May 22, 2021 in Ebeid Hospice, Sylvania, Ohio. Born February 1, 1924, in Nova Scotia, Canada, he was the son of John Charles and Thomasina (Millar) Ryan. Dan proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a machinist mate 2C aboard the USS Longshaw where he earned a Purple Heart.
As a young man, he loved life and was passionate about many things especially his beloved wife, Barbara Jean (Conner) of 64 years . He enjoyed Woodcarving, making saddles, and painting.
Daniel retired from Gerber Baby Food Inc.in 1989.
He loved worshiping his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and thanked Him daily for his family.
His wisdom, love, and selflessness will live on forever in the hearts of those who love him.
He is survived by his loving children, Patrick Ryan, Charlotte (Daniel) Mearns and Marjorie (Mark) Bauman; son-in-law, David Martin; brother, Jack (Nancy) Ryan; grandchildren, Philip, Mariann, Michael, Elaine, Kristie, Gordon, Martha, Jonathan, Anna and Jessica; 21 great grandchildren.
Daniel was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara J., (Conner) Ryan (2009) and daughter, Sharon Martin (2007).
A gathering will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, May 28, 2021, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where services will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment services will follow at Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania, Ohio.
