Jessie Elizabeth "Betty" Tyler Russell Miller, cherished wife, mother and homemaker, passed away Friday, May 21, 2021 in Weatherford, Texas, after a short illness. She was 89.
Betty was born on a ranch outside Trinidad, Colorado, February 18, 1932 to William George "Bill" Tyler and Jessie Mae Squyres. At a young age they moved to Los Angeles, Calif., where her father worked for the Pullman Railroad Company. Within a year or two the family relocated to Mineral Wells where she attended elementary school. Later they moved to Fort Worth where she attended Parker Jr. High, then graduated with honors with the Paschal H.S. Class of 1949. There she also met and married her first husband, Thomas Earl "Tommy" Russell, in August 1949. She married Thomas R. Miller in May of 1968 in Arlington, Texas, later settling in Weatherford, Texas.
Betty worked her first job during her high school years in Fort Worth at Joyland Amusement Park handling ticket sales. She later worked as a switchboard operator for the phone company and at Chance Vought. After moving to Weatherford, she worked some 20 years in the insurance department at Campbell Hospital.
She was a devoted mother and was affectionately known as Mammo to her 7 grandchildren, their friends and 7 great-grandkids.
Betty leaves behind her husband, Thomas R. Miller of Weatherford; son, Joel T. Russell of Fort Worth; daughter, Tama K. Fiscus of Weatherford; step-son, Richard Miller of Buhda, Texas; step-daughter, Suzanne Scott of Webster, Texas; grandchildren Thomas Masey, Jessica Russell, Timothy Masey, Ryan Russell, Johnathan and Wesley Norris, Angela Mangum; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Tommy, in 1965; father, Bill in 1971; mother, Jessie in 2008; and sister, Billie Jean in 2014.
