Paul D. Gonzales was born October 8, 1946 in Gothenburg to Capt. John C. Gonzales and Lois (Brush) Gonzales. Paul grew up in Gothenburg and graduated from GHS in 1965.

Paul joined the Air Force after graduation from high school and was stationed at White-man AFB in Missouri where he trained and worked as a medic.

He later worked for Mutual of Omaha and then Northern Natural Gas in Human Resources and as Director of Fair Employment and Labor Practices in Houston for Enron. He served three terms as president of the Houston Area Human Resource Association. He retired to Corvallis, Oregon, where he studied at Oregon State University and received his B.S. in Political Science.

Paul was brilliant, witty, artistic and had a unique perspective of the world. He had his own ideas about how the English language should be changed and had a love for all genres of music and art. He could converse for hours about books, history, travel, science, movies, the constellations, the universe, and the logic (or lack of it) regarding religion and politics. He wrote notes to everyone; he wrote silly little poems; put together family calendars; and wrote clever and hilarious family newsletters under the name "Selaznog"; Gonzales spelled backward. He wrote the wit and wisdom of "Akhmed Trevor Ashby," his pen name. Tobasco sauce improved the flavor of everything and he avoided onions like the plague. He was perplexed as to why there were cats in this world.

Preceded by:
Father: Capt. John C. Gonzales
Mother: Lois (Samuel D.) Atkinson
Grandparents: Frank and Stella Brush; Adolph and Jane Gonzales
Beloved dogs; Bear and Red

Survived by:
Son: Jarrett (Angela) Gonzales
Daughter: Malinda (Wesley) McMurtrey
Granddaughter: Elyse McMurtrey
Sisters; Janice (Tom) Angstman, Jane (Jim) Felton, Linda Sue (Tom) Kobold
Brothers; Jim (Janice) Gonzales, Gary (Julie) Gonzales and Mike (Cheryl) Gonzales
Numerous nieces, nephews, family, cousins, and many friends;

His final wish was to have his ashes scattered at his beloved Teton Mountains in Wyoming where he spent many summers while growing up.
