WILMINGTON—Peggy Ann Thomas (nee Butcher), 79, of Wilmington, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2021 at the Citadel of Bourbonnais.
Born Oct., 1941 in Urbana, IL, she was the daughter of Raymond Chester and Essie Lee (nee Wilson) Butcher. Peggy was previously employed at the Joliet Army Ammunition Plant (8 years) in Group 1 & 2, Group 3A, Acid Department Union Oil of California (Uniroyal 76) and Super Value in Wilmington. She was a member of the Island City Baptist Church and volunteered at the Caring Closet, both in Wilmington.
Surviving are one daughter, Susan Lee Ymker, of Sioux Falls, SD; three grandchildren: Carrie Govoni, Ryan Roth and Katherine Markward; seven great-grandchildren: Kaylee, Claire, Keegan, Loretta, Sammy, Ryan Jr. and Jenessa and great-niece, April Getzelman, of Joliet, who became her advocate during her last years of life.
Preceding her in death was her parents, her daughter, Barbara Jean Thomas and siblings: Nellie Wilson Estock, Cyrus Kirby "Whitey" Butcher, James Frederick Butcher and Norma Moody.
Miss Getzelman would like to extend a huge thank you to Angela and Sarah of Uplifted Hospice in Kankakee for their care and compassion. She would also like to thank the Citadel of Bourbonnais for their willingness to care for Peggy at the end of her life.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial visitation will be at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday, May 27, 2021 from 9-11 a.m. with memorial service at 11 a.m. Pastor Jeff Logsdon will officiate.
Inurnment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, Illinois Chapter: 8430 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. #800, Chicago, IL 60631 or Uplifted Hospice: 482 Main St. NW., Bourbonnais, IL 60914.
