CAROL HAMMAKER
ILLINOIS CITY, Illinois - Carol A. Hammaker, 79, of Illinois City, passed away on Saturday May 15, 2021 at Lutheran Living Senior Campus in Muscatine.
Carol was born on August 19, 1941, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of William Henry and Gladys May Dusenberry Estabrook. She married Ronald Hammaker on April 4, 1961, in the New Era Lutheran Church in Muscatine. This year they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Carol loved her coffee and enjoyed camping, shopping, traveling, reading romance novels, fishing, Sunday dinners with family, listening to Elvis and Brenda Lee, holding her husband's hand, watching Hallmark movies, Snickers Bars, her chocolate lab, Presley, everything Christmas, and above all, spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald of Illinois City; three daughters, Kim Goodwin (Randy) of Muscatine, Deb Hammaker of Muscatine, and Tonya Hammaker (Alexander Bobin) of Chicago; five grandchildren, Aaron Whitlow, Heather Whitlow, Ryan Goodwin, Nicholas Bobin, and Isabelle Bobin; and four great grandchildren, Isaac Bravo, Hannah Whitlow, Kaylyn Rosas, and Evie Goodwin.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings, Bernice Phillips, Violet Freyermuth, Dorothy Rada, Eldon Estabrook, and Pauline Morgan.
A private graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery. The Ralph J. Wittich Riley Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
