Rev. Harry David Carter, age 76, of Cedar Bluff, AL, passed away Monday, May 24, 2021, at his residence.

Rev. Carter was born in Floyd County, GA on October 2, 1944, son of the late Judson David Carter and the late Ida Leon Worthington Carter. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Rita Charmayne Carter, by 5 sisters, Emily Carroll, Evelyn McPherson, Kathleen Willingham, Carolyn Severance, and Dorothy Reynolds, by an infant brother, and by an infant great grandchild.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Temple-Inland for over 43 years. An ordained gospel minister, he pastored many churches in Georgia and Alabama for over 46 years of ministry. Rev. Carter was a member of Cedar Bluff First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, the former Linda Garrett, to whom he was married on July 9, 1966; 2 daughters, Katrina Carter Johnson (Charles), Cedar Bluff, AL, and Paige Carter Wright (Tim), Cheraw, SC; his son, Jeffrey David Carter, Cedar Bluff, AL; 3 sisters, Ann Burnette, Aragon, Martha Jane Thompson, Moultrie, and Mary Frances Carter, Cartersville; 2 brothers, Billy Carter, Calhoun, and Roy Carter, Rome; 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2021, at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with his son-in-law, the Rev. Tim Wright and the Rev. Tommy Willingham officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Thursday from 12 noon until the service hour.

Pallbearers are requested to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Thursday at 1:30pm and include: Wesley Carter, Dusty Johnson, Zane Howell, Zoe Carter, Tim Ray Wright, Garrett Collins, Tommy Burnette, and R. T. Fergoda.

Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, has charge of the funeral arrangements.
