Douglas Jack Reed, age 78, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 22, 2021, surrounded by his family.

Doug was born March 17, 1943, in Detroit, MI to John (Jack) Reed and Jennie Mary Janulis. He attended Bentley High School in Livonia, MI, Highland Park Community College and the Detroit Institute of Technology.

Doug retired in 2002 from Transamerica Commercial Finance, formally Borg Warner Acceptance Corporation. He had a passion for anything to do with Corvettes or motorcycles. He appreciated a fine automobile, regardless of branding.

He was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, James (Jimmy) Reed. He is survived by his wife, Chris, daughters, Kendra Reed, Kimberly Reed Giles; granddaughter Taylor; cousins, Rick Matton, Shirley Janulis; with countless friends.

He was an active member, a past president and board member of the Classic Glass Corvette Club - Marietta, GA. He chaired a board for the Cobb County Board of Equalization, assisted Cobb County Elections and Registration in multiple facets, and served on the Cobb County Parks Citizens Bond Committee. He was a president and board member of the Goldwing Road Riders Association GWRRA Georgia Chapter B. Doug was a lifetime member of the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY. Doug was larger than life and lived his life that way. An avid traveler and cruise lover, he and mom traversed the earth visiting the wonders of each civilization. He was an active amateur radio operator (N3AIA): A Life Member of the ARRL, Keystone VHF club in York, PA and the North Fulton Amateur Radio League. Doug was active in emergency communications including Civil Defense, RACES and Army MARS. His charisma knew no end. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all that knew him.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 29, at 11:00 a.m. at Marietta Funeral Home, 915 Piedmont Rd, Marietta, GA 30066.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
