William Herschel Wood, 44, died suddenly Thursday at his home, 903 Hawthorne St. He was employed by the Holcombe Construction Company at the Electro-Metallurgical Division of Union Carbide and Carbon Corporation.

Survivors include his widow, Goldie Payne Wood; one son, William Herschel Wood Jr., at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pearl Wood of Reedy; two brothers, Thomas and Don E. Wood, both of Reedy; four sisters, Mrs. Virginia Dye and Mrs. Raleigh Daggett, both of Parkersburg; Mrs. Curtis Chenoweth and Mrs. Wade Waldeck, both of Cutler, OH; one half-sister, Mrs. Otmer Dye of Palestine. Two infant children preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Good Hope Baptist Church near Reedy, the Rev. C. R. Mathews and the Rev. H. W. Blackburn officiating. Burial will follow in Good Hope Cemetery. The body will be removed from the Kimes Funeral Home to the late residence Saturday at 10 a.m., and will remain there until Sunday at 11 a.m. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service.
