Wilbur "Bill" V. Shanks 83, Indianapolis, went home to be with his lord and savior on February 7, 2007. He was born July 18, 1923, the son of Pearley and Katrina Zackmire Shanks. Bill retired in 1985, after 39 years, as a supervisor of the printing department of Eli Lilly. He also worked for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum from 1988-1996. He was US Army Air Corps veteran during WWII. He was active in the Knights of Columbus, a 4th degree member and past Grand Knight of Our Lady of Fatima, member of Bishop Chatard General Assembly, Administrative Assistant to the State Deputy from 1966-1972, State Tour Chairman from 1972-1980 and a member of the American Legion Robert E. Kennington Post #34. Bill was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife Betty, daughters: Phyllis (David) Walker and Terri (Daniel) Richards, granddaughters; Melissa Holloway and Melinda Stephenson, grandson; Daniel Walker, great grandchildren; Amanda Jo Cope, Bradley Stephenson, Rebecca Holloway and Jacob Stephenson, nephews; George (Laura) Morgason and Rodge (Sandy) Shanks, Michael McGloon. Bill was preceded in death by his sister; Merle Morgason and brother; Claude Shanks. Prayer services will be Saturday, February 10, 9:30 am at Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary with a Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, February 9, from 4-8 p.m. at the mortuary, with a rosary service at 7 p.m.
