Howard "Toby" S. Turner, 77, of Valrico Florida passed away on October 27, 2020. He was born on March 5, 1943 to James Edward Turner and Jimmye L. Stansell Turner. Survivors include his wife, his daughter and his son, his Daughter-in-Law, two granddaughters and his brother.

Toby received a Bachelor's degree from Georgia Tech University and a Master's degree for the Naval War College. After graduation he became a commissioned officer in the United States Navy. Toby was a Naval pilot and retired as a Navy Commander after twenty years. After his retirement from the Navy, he began his second career as a commercial insurance broker. He just reached his thirty year anniversary with Lanier Upshaw, Inc. of Lakeland Florida earlier this year and had no plans for retirement because he liked his work in the insurance industry so much.

In addition to enjoying his work Toby had many other interests. First and foremost was his family. His two granddaughters were the light of his life and the apples of his eye. After his family came his love of model trains, and had he lived to be one hundred (as he often said he would), he would never have tired of working on model trains and building the towns for his train sets.

Due to COVID, a small family service is being held at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home on November 5, 2020. As many of you know, Toby had suffered from Myasthenia Gravis since 2013. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation in Toby's honor via the Facebook fundraiser we have set up with the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation through this link:
