William D. Walters, 73, of Reedsville, died on Sunday, May 23, 2021.

Born July 27, 1947, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Clarence R. and Irene (Nevel) Walters. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannine Walters, on January 21, 2021; a brother, Donald Walters; a sister, Faye Walters; a niece Wanda; and nephew Ronald.

He is survived by; his sons, William Walters Jr. and wife, Ayde, of Louisiana, Jeff Walters and wife, Fely, of Maryland, James Walters and wife, Holly, of Louisiana; step-daughters, Jennifer Drake, of Reedsville, and Lorie Drake-Norton and husband Kenneth, of Virginia; grandchildren, Jeffrey Walters and wife, Sydney, of Florida, Jessica Walters, of Maryland, Arianna and William Walters, of Louisiana; great-granddaughter, Jupiter Spain Walters, of Florida; niece, Stacey Walters and companion, Matthew Grey, of Naginey; nephew, Ken and wife, Kim, of Reedsville; niece, Melva Gutshall and husband Randy, of Lewistown; and dachshund, Carly Jean, his best friend and loyal companion.

He graduated from Kishacoquillas High School in 1965 and then attended Penn State University, studying Criminal Justice.

He was employed at The American Viscose Division FMC Corporation then joined the US Navy on December 28, 1966. He trained at Great Lakes Naval Training Center then served in Vietnam from 1967 - 1968. He attained the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class and then returned to the States and was stationed on the USS Bushnell at Key West, Florida. He received an Honorable Discharge from the US Navy on August 10, 1972.

After attending The Pennsylvania State Police Academy he served 27 years, 1972 - 1999 as a Pennsylvania State Police Trooper, retiring in 1999 with a rank of Corporal. He was then employed by Parson's Corporation for 18 years as an auditor for The PA Emissions Team and retired as Lead Auditor on September 29, 2017.

He last attended The Church of God in Lewistown.

He was a member of The Lewistown Masonic Lodge #203 F. & A.M., Milroy Legion Post #0287 for 51 years, Belleville VFW Post #5935, State Police Retired Trooper Association, American Association of State Troopers, and Retired State Police Association of PA.

He enjoyed sprint car racing, driving push truck at Port Royal Speedway, spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren, and daily rides with his favorite sidekick, Carly Jean.

Services will be at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are under the care of Hoenstine Funeral Homes, 75 Logan St., Lewistown.
