After lengthy illness, Peggy Shelton Abbott, age 76, of Empire, AL. departed this
life on May 23rd,2021 .
She was a beloved mother and grandmother, and a dear friend to many.
She was a very sweet person that always cared about others more than herself.
She was preceded in death by two 2 husbands, Bill Shelton and Ralph Abbott:
her parents, James Jones Sr. and Margaret Glancy Jones; brother, James Jones Jr.,
sister, Roberta Logan; granddaughter, Priscilla; grandson, Robert.
Survivors include two sons, a daughter, two brothers, a sister, and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great- grandchildren.
Peggy had lived in Empire since 1980, after moving from Texas. She was a wonderful homemaker, and enjoyed cooking for her family, but she also worked tirelessly at her successful business ventures and helped provide jobs for the community her whole life. She worked hard along side her husbands in the Egg Business and the Cattle Business, and she also opened a porcelain Doll business where she used her artistic talents to teach people young and old the art of Porcelain Doll making.
She was always a generous, kindhearted, person to everyone she met.
She is greatly loved, and will be missed by all.
Per her wishes, her remains will be cremated, and private services will be held at a later date.

As per her obit, her remains were cremated; her name on a headstone shared with husband (Ralph Abbott) at Mount Zion Cemetery - may be a cenotaph. Note: her name also appears on the headstone of her first husband (William R. Shelton).
