Sylvester (Syl) Schneider, age 81, of currently residing at River's Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc, died Saturday afternoon November 3, 2007 at Holy family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.
Syl was born on August 3, 1926 in Kiel, Wisconsin, son of the late Arnold and Helen Roitt Schneider.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving on the U.S.S. Schwerer from 1944 until 1946 when he was honorably discharged.
On August 21, 1948 he married the former Arlene Holzer at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz.
Syl was employed with the Port Washington Electric Company. Syl was then an independent truck driver for 50 years, driving only Mack Trucks earning the 50,000 mile plaque from the Mack Trucking Company.
Syl was survived by his wife; Arlene Schneider, Cleveland, six children; James and Terrie Schneider, West Bend, Jerry and RevaJo Schneider, Gaffney, S.C., Jeffrey and Jellane Schneider, Reedsville, Janet Schierschmidt, Kaukauna, Jay and Lori Schneider, West Bend, Jon and Eilleen Schneider, Apple Valley MN, 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, two brothers and sisters-in-law; Norman and Rosie Schneider, Valders, Lawrence and Shirley Schneider, Newton, four sisters and three brothers-in-law; Dorothy Kutz, Valders, Betty and Donald Wallender, Two Rivers, Mary Ann and Tony Lipski, Manitowoc, Agnes and Mark Pupeter, Two Rivers, one brother-in-law; Herman Holzer and his wife, Bette, Manitowoc.
Syl was also preceded in death by two children; Judy and Joseph, three grandchildren, one great grandchild, one brother; Francis.
Bio: For the last 10 years, he enjoyed the company of his wife, Arlene, driving as a team. Following his retirement, Syl worked for the village of Cleveland for several years. Syl was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, School Hill, V.F.W. Post 8974, Cleveland, D.E.S.A. and N.I.-D.E.S.A. (Northern Illinois Destroyer Escort Sailor Association).

Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, School Hill. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Gregory Coulthard. Military rites will be accorded by Cleveland V.F.W. Post 8974. Entombment will be at Knollwood Mausoleum at a later date. The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
