Douglas Loren Ferguson was born on October 25, 1944 in Mercer County, Illinois to Delbert L. & Marie E. (Dacy) Ferguson. He served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1971 in Viet Nam. Pudd married Maxine Ham. She preceded him in death. On October 25, 2007 he was united in married to Beverly Erps.

Pudd was a 50-year member of Laborer's Local Union 309, working many years with Valley Construction. In his spare time, he enjoyed raising and training racehorses and coon hounds. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Pudd served his town as city councilman and EMT for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly; children: Mary (Duane) Bird; Joe (Jill) Dankert and Jay (Teri) Dankert; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson; Siblings: Lee (Maggie) Ferguson; Ruth Hollander; Steve (Rita) Ferguson and Avis Lower. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Maxine; and a sister, Esther Christie.
