Jerry L. Stone

Indianapolis - Jerry L. Stone, born in Louisville, KY to Leonard M. and Mary Christine (Proctor) Stone on August 29, 1942 and died on May 21, 2021. He went to high school at Will Rodgers High School, Tulsa, OK and continued to attend many high school reunions and stayed close with several classmates.

Jerry proudly served in the US Navy aboard the USS Locator AGR6, a guardian class radar picket ship working as a storekeeper. He has kept in touch with many of his fellow shipmates over the years. Jerry became a personal pilot by using the GI Bill and for a short time owned his own plane!

On June 1, 1963 he married Dorothy A. (Glowner) Stone at Southport Baptist Church in Southport, IN.

Jerry is survived by his wife and two daughters, Dee A. (Ron Tatum) Sutherlin and Christie L. (Paul) Dillow and grandchildren, Andrea D. (Kenny) Mollett, Paul T. (Brittney) Lamping, Jr., Amber L. (Zach) Rogers, Patrick A. Lamping, Grace E. (Ethan Janes) Dillow, James M. Dillow, who is currently serving in the US Navy, Norfolk, VA. Jerry is also a great-grandfather to Macey, Harrison, Noah, Alexander, Ruby, Adelaide and Archer. He is also survived by his brother Phillip W. (Suvella) Stone and sister Janice K. Herron and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Ronnie L. Stone.

Jerry began his professional working career as a route man for 7-UP, then went to work at AMP, Inc. and Terminal Supply, Inc. Jerry's drive and ambition was instrumental in ensuring a successful business, that he and his wife started in 1985 called Wire Supplies, Inc. in Beech Grove, IN. In 1995 they sold the business and retired to enjoy time with family and friends. In his retirement, he and Dottie enjoyed traveling in their various motor coaches with their grandkids, golfing with their large group of friends and spending time on the front porch with their dogs.

Jerry was a loving brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather (Meeps) and uncle. Jerry was loved by many and never knew a stranger. He will be dearly missed by all.

Visitation for Jerry will take place on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 from 10:00am until 12:00pm at Little and Sons Funeral Home, 4901 E. Stop 11 Road, Indianapolis, IN 46237. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00pm also at the church. A committal service with military honors will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Please adhere to current local mandates regarding the coronavirus.
