Van Wilson, 90, of Globe, AZ passed away on May 16, 2021 in Tucson, AZ. Van was the longtime County Extension agent for Gila County from 1969 to 1988. He was a dedicated member of The First Presbyterian Church, Globe Rotary, and the Gila County Cattle Growers.
Van worked for the University of Arizona College of Agricultural Extension program. He supported the local ranching community of Gila County and he helped establish the 4H program. The Bolo Tie he is wearing in this picture has Gila County in red coral. Bob Boice, one of the local ranchers owned a liquor store by the old Yellow Front store. He sold jewelry in his store and told Van's girls that they had to give this bolo tie to their dad. They saved up the money and gave it to him for Christmas one year.
After his retirement, he drove the activity bus for the Globe School District. He enjoyed driving the students to their field activities especially the sporting events.
Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Globe, AZ at 11:00 am on Friday, May 28, 2021 located at 318 S Hill Street. As was his wish a barbeque lunch will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall.
