Louis Rubidoux, Son Of Early Spanish Pioneer, Succumbs Here
Louis (Ruby) Rubidoux, 79, after whom Mount Rubidoux in Riverside County was named, died last night in a local hospital. He had been a patient in the hospital since January 29th.
A grandson of Louis Rubidoux, an early Spanish settler in Southern California, Rubidoux owned the land on which the mountain is located. He presented it to the City of Riverside and Easter sunrise services have been conducted there since 1909.
Born in Riverside, Rubidoux married ay Akers in 1891. She died in 1912 and he then moved to Coalinga to work in the oil fields. He owned a homestead in Priest Valley and lived there until 1934.
Rubidoux resided in 2226 San Joaquin Street until he became ill. He was retired,
Surviving relatives include a son, Roy Rubidoux; a daughter, Cora Schylster, whose addresses are unknown, and a brother, George Rubidoux of Corona.
The last rites are being arranged by the C. Harry Palm Funeral Service.

Funeral services were conducted yesterday in the Palm Funeral Chapel for Louis Rubidoux, 79, of 2226 San Joaquin Street, who died Thursday in a local hospital.
Burial followed in the Mountain View Cemetery.
Rubidoux, a native of Riverside County, was a grandson of Louis Rubidoux, an early Spanish settler in Southern California.
