Nancy Carroll, 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 22, 2021.
She was born June 20, 1939, in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late Martha Pattillo, and Duncan Meehan. As a child her family moved to Chattanooga during WWII, where they lived in the same apartment building with her future husband Ed.
The family moved to Montgomery, Alabama where she attended grammar school and then moved to Marion, Alabama, where she finished high school. Nancy was a graduate from the University of Alabama "ROLL TIDE". Nancy taught special education in Marion, Alabama. She married Ed in 1981 and moved to Chattanooga. She taught at Tyner High School and Brainerd High School. Nancy also spent many years as a member of the UDC, DAR, Pilot Club, and ADK Sorority.
Nancy had a love for traveling. She and Ed spent many years traveling the US and Canada. She also traveled abroad with the Girl Scouts. Following retirement, she and her husband took to a life of cruising. They have traveled the world on cruise ships, which took them to over 100 countries and all 7 continents. She loved to come back and tell stories of their adventures.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 39 years, M. Edward (Ed) Carroll, Jr.; step-daughter, Stacy Corbitt (Robert) and step-son Troy Carroll (Christie); step-granddaughter Kayla Carroll; step-grandson Riley Carroll, as well as many dear friends.
A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, May 28, 2021 at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
