Deborah Cook Brock, 62

Okeechobee – Deborah Cook Brock of Okeechobee lost her battle with cancer Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the Okeechobee Healthcare Facility. She was born January 17, 1955 in Decatur, IL to William J. and Norma Lee (nee Screeton) Cook. She had been a resident of Okeechobee for 46 years. She worked as a Deputy Sheriff for the Okeechobee County Sheriff's Department for eighteen years; five years with the Belle Glade City Police Department, where she became the first female K9 officer with her partner, Puma. Later she worked as an LPN for the Okeechobee Healthcare Facility. Deborah enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and lending a helping hand and warm smile to all of those around her.

She was a member of Hunger and Thirst Ministries.

Survivors include her daughters, Shannon (Joshua) Henry of Okeechobee and Kimberly (Robert) Allen of Okeechobee; brother, Bill (Karen) Cook of Illinois; sisters, Janie (Skip) Queen of Orlando, FL, Vicki (Mark) Frye of Okeechobee and Sue (Chris) Carlson of Okeechobee; seven grandchildren, Brandon (Kayla), Nathan, Kameron, Joshua, Kendrick, Ausum and Aaryianna; three great-grandchildren, Aiden, Bentley and Delaini; a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Buster Brock; her parents; and sister, Linda.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017 at Buxton & Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until services at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Joe Bishop officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society at 217 SW Park St, Okeechobee, FL 34972.
