The Lord called Mary Rose Purser Caldwell to her Heavenly home on Saturday morning, May 22, 2021, as she passed peacefully in her sleep. She lived a full and joyous 95 years.

With her bubbly personality and sense of humor, Mary was the life of the party. A favorite of her nieces and nephews, Aunt Mary was the funniest person you could meet. She had the gift of gab and was able to talk to anyone.

When she was 18, Mary left Cochran, Georgia and this small town girl joined the Navy. She attended the U.S. Naval Training Center located at Hunter College, The Bronx, New York City to become a WAVE and serve her country during WW II.

Mary decided, at age 40, she was going back to school to become a nurse. Despite only having a GED, Mary passed her nursing class with flying colors. She worked for Coliseum Medical Center in Macon as well as the factory nurse at Plant Scherer in Juliette, Georgia.

The daughter of the late Joseph M. Purser and Annie L. Giddens Purser, Mary was born on July 14, 1925 in Cochran, Georgia.

Mary was a dedicated and faithful member of Westside Baptist Church in Warner Robins.

Mary was an incredible seamstress, a talented crocheter and was a collector of hats.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Cephus F. Caldwell,Jr. (Joe); son, Raymond Dale Caldwell; brothers, Gerald Purser, Thomas Purser, Kirby Purser, Morris Purser; and sister, Lucille Jarrell.

She is survived by her daughter, Gayle Mutchnik (Jack) of Bradenton, Florida; her grandchildren, David Caldwell, Amber Caldwell Bibeau and great granddaughter, Amelia Bibeau as well as a host of adoring nieces, nephews and friends.
