Columbia, South Carolina - James P. Schneider, age 77, passed away on May 19, 2021. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Anne.
Born in SC, Mr. Schneider attended schools in Columbia, graduating from Eau Claire High School and the University of South Carolina. While at USC, he was a member of the Air Force ROTC. Following graduation, he trained and served as a fighter pilot in the United States Air Force. He later worked as a research consultant with private firms and government. He founded and operated a private janitorial business for several years.
He joined the South Carolina Air National Guard in 1972, later serving as a full time instructor pilot and held different positions while serving at McEntire Air Base.
During his life, he enjoyed playing golf, boating on Lake Murray, spending time in NC mountains, exercising at local athletic clubs, reading, following politics, watching football and vintage movies, travel, theater, and fast cars.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Davey Schneider; a sister, Sherry Miller (Rick); brother-in-law, Patrick R. Middleton (Brenda); nieces, Marcy and Elizabeth Miller; a nephew, Patrick J. Middleton; and his dog, Rusty. His parents, Matthew and Bessie Schneider, predeceased him.
A private service will be held with internment at Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
