Dorothy Eason Barnes, age 86, passed away Wednesday morning, January 6, 2021 at Nash UNC Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lillian Moore Eason; sisters, Margie Crumpler and Jean Brantley; and brother, Randolph Eason.

Dorothy is survived by a loving husband of 68 years, George W. Barnes Sr. of Elm City; son, George W. Barnes Jr. (Donna) of Rocky Mount; daughter, Connie Barnes Williams (Rich) of Raleigh; granddaughter, Katie Webb; great-granddaughter, Coraline Webb, both of Rocky Mount; brother, Edward Eason of Sharpsburg; sister, Rosa Roberts of Richmond, Virginia; brother-in-law, Ray Brantley of Nashville; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Eason of Hampton, Virginia.

A service to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held at 2 pm, Sunday, January 10 at Dortches Baptist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 1 pm. The family respectfully requests all CDC guidelines regarding Covid-19 safety be followed, including facial coverings and social distancing.
