Barbara A. Bauer, 88, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 8, in hospice care at her residence in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, with family by her side. Barbara was born on August 18, 1932 in Thornville Township, Perry County, Ohio to the late Kermit and Dorothy (Cooperrider) Boring. Barbara was married in 1955 in South Salem, Ohio to Karl "Don" Bauer until his death in 2013. She was a Valedictorian graduate of Buckskin High School, South Salem, Ohio; Capital University (Bachelor of Music in Music Education); and The Ohio State University (Master of Music in Music Education). Retired after 26 years as a teacher of music and reading at Herbert Mills Elementary and French Run Elementary (Reynoldsburg City Schools), she also taught private piano lessons to a generation of students in her home. Barbara was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and sang in the Senior Saints. Previously, she was a 54-year member of Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church including service as Organist, Adult Hand Bell Choir Director, and Adult Choir member. Her community activities included the Marabar Heights Garden Club and Reynoldsburg Civic Club. A genealogist who presented her research at events in Ohio, Barb was an active member and researcher for the Palatines to America German Genealogy Society. Her devotion to serve in these various organizations was her passion. Barbara loved the company of her family and grandkids and was proud of their many accomplishments. She also enjoyed traveling, reading, solving crossword puzzles, gardening, knitting, and Barb was a formidable Scrabble player.
