Mrs. Emma Cole, daughter of Schuyler and Lucy Lee, was born in Alfred, Allegheny County, N.Y., May 9, 1857, and died at her home in Kingston May 15, 1909 at the age 52 years and 6 days.
She was married to John A. Cole at [Ulysses], Pa., Jan. 1, 1882, and since that time her home has been in Kingston. Her life has been devoted to her family and friends. She was ever ready to lend a helping hand or assist any one in need. She was a charter member of the Eastern Star in this place, and it was largely through her efforts that the chapter was instituted. The presence of members here in a body testify to the esteem and affection felt for her.
She leaves to mourn her death her husband of this place, her mother and four sisters and one brother, residing in Pennsylvanian and one brother in Colorado, and a sister, Mrs. Byron Munn, in De Kalb, Ill., besides many friends.
At the age of 12, she united with the M.E. Church at Andover, N.Y.
She was laid to rest in the Kingston Cemetery Monday afternoon. Her funeral was held at the Baptist Church, Rev. Scarry officiating.
