BIRTH
Eliza Higgins was born about 1846 in Abbeyleix, Queen's County, Ireland. (A child with the same name, and parents' names that were similar to hers, was baptized on Christmas Day in 1851, but that person was not this person.) The parents of this person, Eliza Higgins, were John Higgins (who lived and farmed in Colt) and Anne Grant. A brother was Thomas Higgins. The diocese was Kildare and Leighlin. It was in the Civil and Catholic Parishes of Abbeyleix.
MARRIAGE AND FAMILY
Eliza married Richard Byrne in 1873 in Raheen, and together they had seven children.They had seven children. One son died early. Mary Bridget was the only daughter to emigrate. Three sons followed her to the USA. By 1911 only Jane and Edward were at home with their mother and father. A son, Edward, and a daughter, Jane, were still at home in 1911 according to the census that year.
DEATH
Eliza Higgins Byrne died in 1925 in the Catholic and Civil Parish of Abbeyleix, in Ballytarsna Townland of County Laois, Ireland. (A person with the same name, and parents' names, died in New Zealand.) By 1922, the name of Queen's County had changed to County Laois.
BURIAL
She was buried at the grave marker that she had erected for her husband, Richard, and for three sons, at The Most Holy Rosary Church graveyard in Abbeyleix Townland, County Laois, Ireland.
