George J. Sullivan entered into eternal life peacefully, with his loving family by his bedside, on Tuesday, May 18, 2021.
He was 94 years old, just four days shy of his 95th birthday. He was a lifelong resident of Charlestown and, most recently, Winchester.

George, or "uncle Georgie" as he was most affectionately known, was born on Baldwin St. in Charlestown, MA, May 22, 1926. He was the son of the late John Sullivan and Nora Sullivan (Gallagher). He grew up in Charlestown, attended the Bunker Hill Grammar School, Clarence Edwards Middle School, and graduated from Charlestown High School. Upon graduation, he went to work as a welder at the Charlestown Naval Shipyard. After working on navy ships, George felt it was his duty to serve and enlisted in the Navy as a Seaman 1st class and was honorably discharged December 26, 1947. He was stationed in Japan and was one of the many US servicemen sent to Nagasaki to help clean up the city after the atomic bombings.

After his discharge from the Navy, George returned home to Charlestown and later attended Boston University, where he studied business. He later renovated properties in Charlestown, focusing on their historical importance and reinforcing Charlestown's rich history.

Above everything was George's family. It meant everything to him as he enjoyed and attended as many family gatherings as he could. He loved to travel, especially to Cape Cod and Florida, and always made sure family members were included on each vacation.

George was a gentle soul, kind, generous, full of life, and always had a twinkle in his eye. To anyone that knew him
understands that these words do not do him justice.

George is survived by his sister Josephine and many loving nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and nieces,
great great nephews and nieces and of course his dog Rocco who still waits at the door for him to return home.

George's wake and funeral will be private.
