Mr. Smith passed away May 20, 2021 in Killeen ,TX.
Ray Smith, Sr., was born November 5, 1945 to parents Etta Mae Clark and Andrew Smith in Seguin, TX. He graduated from Ball High School in Seguin, TX.
Ray enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Vietnam war. He achieved the rank of Master Sergeant and received an honorable discharge after proudly serving his country for 24 years. His awards, medals and ribbons include: The Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal (w/silver, 2 loops), National Defense Service Medal, Armed Force Expeditionary Medal (Korea), Vietnam Service Medal (w/3 Bronze Service Stars), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 2), Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Gallantry Cross Unit Citation Badge (w/Palm) and the Sharpshooter Badge (Rifle).
Ray was a clever man who enjoyed working on and fixing cars, watching sports, and taking road trips with his family. He loved listening to the solid gold hits and reminiscing on all the good times he had in life. Ray would give his last dime and the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. He was truly an all-around hero to his family and everyone that crossed his path.
Ray leaves to cherish his memories: his daughter, Shauna L. Henicks and her husband Dameon Henicks of Killeen, TX; his son, Ray Smith, Jr. of Colorado Springs, CO; four beautiful grandchildren, Kiana O. Smith and Jazmine O. Smith of Hinesville, GA, Mikayla S. Henicks of Killeen, TX, and Devona L. Henicks of Columbia, SC; great-grandchildren, Patrick R. Smith, Senquel C. Jackson, Sienna D. Jackson, and Dakari L. Henicks; and a host of other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Diane Smith, parents Etta Mae and Andrew Smith, and brothers Freddie Smith and Marvin Smith.
