Sarah was born on November 26, 1967 to John Scurlock and Rosie Mae Sims in Greenwood, Mississippi. Sarah, Rolanda (sister) and their Mother moved to Lincoln in 1979 when she was 11 years old. She attended Eliott Elementary, Lefler Middle School and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1986.
Sarah's passions were children and love of music. She was a daycare provider for many years. She was a part of her church choir where she also played the piano. She had an ear for music as she taught herself to play the piano at a young age.
Though she never married nor had children of her own, Sarah fostered and raised many children. She was the God Mother to Gabby Dutton, whom she lovingly refers to as her daughter.
Sarah also had an eye for fashion. She would spend her free time drawing and designing clothes. She loved to watch comedies on TV; her sense of humor is one thing that many will miss about her.
Sarah was a member of Angelic Temple, whom she calls her church family. She was very spiritual and always lived with Christian values.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents; brother Ivory Sims, sister Rolanda Scurlock as well as both sets of grandparents.
Sarah is survived by her sister Carol Flanagan; brothers, Charlie (Sonny) Sims, and Theodore Travis; she has a host of nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.
She will be greatly missed.
