Doris was born on October 4, 1936, in Waupun, a daughter of Alex and Irene (Court) Thiem. She was a graduate from Markesan High School in the class of 1955; following graduation she attended the Business Institute of Milwaukee. On July 13, 1963, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Walker at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manchester. Doris was employed at Robin Manufacturing in her early years and later worked in housekeeping for the Markesan Resident Home and dentist office for many years. She really enjoyed spending time with her family, music, dancing and gardening. Doris especially loved her flower gardening and every summer their deck was filled with purple petunias. She was an excellent cook and loved baking. Doris was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
Doris is survived her loving husband of 57 years, Kenneth Walker of Markesan; 3 children, Leann (Matt) Miller of Ripon, Yvonne Kimball of Markesan and Brock (Kristy) Walker of Berlin; 5 grandchildren, Julian, Cameron, Kolbe, Jordan and Brandon; 3 sisters-in-law, Irene Walker of Cambria, Arlene Thiem of Markesan and Carol Walker of Kingston; 2 brothers-in-law, Gordon (Gale) Walker of Ripon and Richard Dykstra of Kingston; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Roger Thiem; 3 brothers-in-law, Allen Walker, Lyler Walker and Duane "Sonny" Walker; a sister-in-law, Darlene "Sis" Dykstra; many other relatives and friends.
Visitation for Doris will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 12:15 P.M. on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at Markesan Community Funeral Home, 868 North Margaret Street, Markesan.
A graveside service for Doris will be held at 12:30 P.M. on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at Kingston Cemetery with Pastor Matthew Ude officiating.
A memorial fund has been directed to Faith Lutheran Church in Doris' name.
The family would like to thank the Barrett House for the wonderful care they provided for Doris over the last 3 years and the staff of Hospice Hope for the compassionate care they provided over the last few weeks.
