Bob Tanner of Colleyville went home to the Lord at 11 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2017, due to complications of Alzheimer's and a brief illness.

Funeral: 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 31 at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home and Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Lt .Col. Bobby Jack Tanner was a retired USAF pilot serving from 1952-1974. He flew B49 and B52 during Cold War, in the '50s and early '60s, plus a handful of other aircraft. In 1967 he was trained in the F100 Saber Jet for combat in Vietnam (1967-1968) where he flew 255 missions. He received 19 decorations, including two Distinguished Flying Crosses, one Bronze Star Medal, 14 Air Medals, and two Vietnamese Gallantry Crosses (one Silver Star, one Bronze Palm).

His greatest accomplishment was as husband, father, grandpa, and friend to many. He married Jackie Tanner in 1957. They were married 56 years before her death in 2013. They had three sons, Greg, Scotty, and Neil. "Grandpa" was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie, and son, Scotty.

Survivors: He is survived by sons, Greg and wife, Beth, of Stephenville, Neil of Hurst; grandkids, Kyle and wife, Macy Belton of Braden, Garrett of Stephenville, Morgan, and Brooke of Hurst; sisters, Martha Kincade and husband, Don, of Rendon and Nancy Proper of Arlington; nieces and nephews, JoNell and Marty Bruenig, Jerry and Linda Toomer, Susie and Larry Carter; plus many great-nieces and nephews.
