Harriet Ann Denise (Jensen) Johnson, 88, of Drayton, ND, passed away peacefully at Lutheran Sunset Home in Grafton, ND, on Friday, March 27, 2020, with loving family by her side.
Harriet was born in Drayton, ND on July 5, 1931 to Harry and Amelia (Hanson) Jensen. She was raised on the family farm and attended school in Drayton, graduating in 1949. She furthered her education by receiving her nursing cap in 1951 from the Deaconess School of Nursing in Grand Forks, ND. She pursued her career as a nurse at Deaconess Clinic in Grand Forks.
Harriet was united in marriage to Harris C. Johnson on March 14, 1953 at Skjeberg Lutheran Church, just before Harris left to serve in the US Army overseas. They made their home in East Drayton/Robbin, MN where they farmed and raised their three children. Harris passed away in 2009.
Harriet enjoyed helping on the family farm by cooking and delivering delicious homemade meals to the field. She loved taking pictures and making photo albums for her grandchildren, going to flea markets, antiquing, and working in her flower gardens. Harris and Harriet enjoyed camping, traveling, and winters in Texas. Harriet's pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. She counted her blessings! Harriet was a faithful member of Skjeberg Lutheran Church where she was baptized and confirmed. She was gifted with a beautiful soprano voice. She sang solos and duets with her sister Erma, and in choirs. Harriet was active in WELCA. She engaged in Bible Study, used her hands to serve others, and had a heart for generously giving to those less fortunate.
Harriet is survived by her children, Lon (Cindy) Johnson, Drayton; Lori (Lee) Osowski, Grafton; and Lynn (Kristi) Johnson, Drayton; 10 grandchildren, Corey, Darcey, Danielle, Rachel, Brittany, Blake, Taylor, Madison, Samuel, and Carter; 7 great grandchildren, Stella, Kinley, Kylie, Julie, Freya, Henry, Hailey, and a girl on the way; sisters and brother-in-law, Shirley Jensen, Alden & Linda Johnson; many cousin, nieces, & nephews.
