Joseph John Palmer, 98, passed away May 18, 2021 at Westview Nursing Facility in Indianola, Iowa.

Joe was born September 23, 1922, in Des Moines, Iowa to Frank and Josephine Palmer. He was a 1941 graduate of Lincoln High School.

He served in the Army Air Forces during World War II.

marrying JoAnn (Bianchi) Palmer. They recently celebrated 71 years of marriage.

Joe worked for Iowa Sheet Metal/Waldinger Corporation for over 35 years.

He was a life member of Bellizzi Mac Rae American Legion and a Charter Member of Christ the King Church.
Gardening was a great love of his which included growing a wide variety of roses.

Joe was devoted to his family and is survived by his wife, JoAnn; daughters, Jeanine Palmer of San Diego, CA and Janice (Rex) DeWald, of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Bradley DeWald and Andrea DeWald of Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Antol; and brother, Frank Palmer.

The family will greet friends Friday, June 4, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with the Rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street. Joe will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Christ the King Church in loving memory of Joe.
