Richard "Newt" Atkinson, 63, of Newell, passed away May 18, 2021.
Born July 10, 1957 in Fairmont, WV, he was the son of the late Newton Harold and Ruth Ann (Statler) Atkinson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jeffrey Atkinson.
Newt was an avid Dallas Cowboy and WVU fan. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are two daughters, Melissa (Michael) Grimes of Chester and Richelle Atkinson of Chester; four grandchildren, Kaylee, Paxton, Hunter and Claire; three sisters, Charlie Kelley of Arizona, Becky Blasinsky of Chester and Virginia Blair (Michael Turner) of South Carolina; and two brothers, Roy Pittenger of Michigan and Thomas (Lori) Pittenger of East Liverpool.
Visitation is Sunday, May 23, 2021, from 2pm until time of funeral service at 4pm, at the Nixon Funeral Home, Newell, WV.
