Ellen Mae Hill, 72, died Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Altercare of Bucyrus.

She was born April 7, 1949 in Vanceburg, Kentucky to the late Cecil and Elizabeth (Knell) Brown. On November 7, 1964, she married the love of her life, Donald E. Hill. They shared 48 years of marriage before his passing on November 1, 2012.

Ellen's passion in life was caring for others. She provided for her family as a homemaker and spent several years working at the former Westfall Nursing Home and County Home where she cared for residents as a nurse's aide. She loved time spent with family, especially around the holidays, and no matter what the occasion, she was always glad to provide a home cooked meal to anyone hungry. A couple family favorites were her fried chicken and homemade biscuits. Ellen was a happy lady and made the most of any situation. She worked in her flower beds any chance she got, and she will be remembered for her many crafts, beautiful ceramics and masterpiece quilts given as gifts to friends and family over the years.

She is survived by three children, David Russell Hill of Galion, Robin Branham of Ashland, and Anthony Wayne Hill of Bucyrus; four grandchildren, David Hill, Shelby Hill, April Rowe (also referred to as "Pooh" by grandma), and Adam Branham; four great grandchildren, Alisha "Sweet Cheeks" Rowe and Aryanna, Leah, and Emma Branham; siblings, Curly Brown, Marty Brown, Betty Jo Henderson, Violet Clark, and Mary Lynn Brown; as well as many extended family members. Ellen was preceded in death by several siblings.

Her funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 20 at Wise Funeral Service with Certified Celebrant Mark Dettmer officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the funeral and burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

Donations can be made payable to Wise Funeral Service.
