Rachel Gay Young, age 39 of Chickamauga, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 14, 2021. She was born in Fort Oglethorpe, was a lifelong resident of Chickamauga and was of the Baptist faith. She was the light of the room and loved being around her family. Rachel was preceded in death by her grandfathers: Jerry Parrish Sr. and Richey Young. Rachel was a loving mother, daughter, sister and friend who will be greatly missed. She is survived by her loving parents: Cindy (Steve Gelnett) Parrish and Jimmy (Jeanette) Young, children: Ryder Alan Young and Carsyn McCoy Young, sister: Hannah Beth (Jathan) Reeves, brothers: Zach (Heather) Young and Phillip (Lisa) Young, grandmothers: Carol Parrish and Fran Young and several nieces. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 20, 2021 in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Jim Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in Garretts Chapel Cemetery, Chickamauga. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the funeral time on Thursday. Arrangements by Wilson Funeral Home-J. Avery Bryan Chapel, Chickamauga.
