Geneva Mae Adkisson Holt stepped through the doorway of Heaven on Saturday, May 15, 2021.
We will miss our dear Granmommie! She is loved by God, and our King Jesus paid her debt in full! We rest in His assurance, knowing she was met at Heaven's gate by Howard, the love of her life, and many other loved ones!
Geneva was preceded in death by her loving husband, Howard; son Gary Holt, daughter-in-law Linda Holt (Dennis' wife) and six of her siblings.
Left to cherish her memory are sons Michael Holt and daughter-in-law Kathy, Lanny Holt and daughter-in-law Gina, Dennis Holt, and a daughter-in-law, Debbie Holt (Gary's wife). Geneva was blessed with nine grandchildren: Granddaughters include Summer Holt, Haylee Holt Tallant (husband Jeff Tallant), Jayden Holt-Bermudez (husband Sebastian Bermudez), Amanda Holt Thompson (husband Blake), and Cricket Holt Blake (husband Nick); grandsons Lucas Holt (and wife Chelsea), Riley Holt (and wife Brandi), Stacy Holt (and wife Gail) and Brad Holt (and partner Steve); her cherished 18 great-grandchildren; sister Wanda English, many nieces and nephews, extended family and family friends.
Born in Abilene, Texas, on July 21, 1932, Geneva was born the 6th child to Louis J. and Elizabeth N. Straley Adkisson.
Geneva married the love of her life, Howard Lee Holt, on September 29, 1951. They were devoted to each other for 36 years of marriage until Howard went to be with the Lord in 1987.
Geneva and Howard treasured country living, trail riding and RVing together, for many years. Geneva graduated from nursing school in 1970 and served the Abilene area until she retired in 2006 at the age of 74. She retired, but never gave up nursing. Once a nurse, always a nurse!
Geneva (aka Granmommie) was a smart, outspoken, virtuous Texas woman – tough as nails but soft as butter! She loved life and loved to have fun. She always looked beautiful and let you know that you were too. She stayed young while growing old! Geneva delighted in getting together with family, traveling, and loved shopping with her daughters-in-law and granddaughters. Geneva attended Oldham Lane church of Christ and loved her church family. She enjoyed her Seniors group and serving on the Solo Servants committee.
Geneva/Granmommie lives in our hearts and will stay there forever!! While we mourn her loss and will miss her dearly, we are comforted to know that she is reunited with loved ones that have gone before her. We know we will rejoice with her again someday!!
