Margie was born on August 13, 1943 in Gilmore, Texas to George and Rommie Lee Smith. She attended school at Booker T Washington and also Wayland Baptist College. She married Roy James Thomson on December 26, 1961. Roy preceded her in death in August 2000. Margie worked in various roles for the Plainview Independent School District until her retirement. She was active in the community and involved in various committees, which included the Literacy Committee and the Booker T Washington Class Reunion Committee. She also collected money for needy children at Christmas and when working as a teacher's aide, taught etiquette classes and catered formal dinners for her students. Margie's faith was an important part of her life. She was an active and long time member of Austin Street Church of Christ.
Margie was a gracious and classy lady always thinking of others, and always willing to help those in need. However, she did have those funny quirks that made her unique: she loved Dr. Pepper and had to have a drink 1st thing in the morning. She ate onion with everything. She loved music, especially Al Green and The Gap Band, especially for Saturday cleaning, and she loved sports and was the ultimate soccer mom.
Margie enjoyed spending time with family and friends, attending church related activities, shopping and reading a good book.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Debra Johnson (Bobby), Cynthia Hallman (Larry), Roy Thompson Jr (Charlotte), and Stephen Thompson (Carmelita) and Brandon Thompson. Grandchildren: Christopher Hallman, Caitlin Hallman, Ryan Thompson, Blake Thompson, Trent Thompson, Rachel Thompson, Luke Thompson, Destiny Thompson, Taylor Thompson, Jennifer Murphy, Bradley Johnson and five great- grandchildren.
Margie will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. She had an especially close relationship with her nephew Tommy Hicks and niece Sasha.
