PITTSBORO – Kay Lomax Smith, 74, passed away on May 13, 2021. Kay was born in Columbia, SC to the late William George Bigger and Mary Frances Brown, but spent most of her life living in Chesapeake, VA where she retired from teaching after a long career with the Chesapeake Public School System. She had also been a member of Great Bridge United Methodist Church. Kay was a graduate of Atlantic Christian College and Northern Kentucky University where she received her master's degree in education. Kay was predeceased by her husbands, Phillip M. Lomax and Marion G. Smith.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving daughter, Kristin Blackwell and her husband, Jonathan of Chapel Hill, NC; granddaughter, Avery Blackwell; sister Billie Learoyd and her husband Robert; nephew Wes Learoyd; niece, Carol Paige; great niece, Alexis Learoyd; and a host of other family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 22 at Oman Funeral Home, from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm with services immediately following. The family has arranged for a reception to take place at the funeral home after the services, everyone is invited to attend.
