SOUTH BURLINGTON, VT. - Virginia "Ginny" Cecile (Benoit) Burns, age 89, of Wealthy Avenue in South Burlington, passed away on May 5th 2021.

She was born on December 6th 1931 in St. Johnsbury, Vt., she was the daughter of Louis Charles Benoit, and Rose Hilda Bernier.

She was a graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy Class of 1949.

On November 17th 1953, she was married in a Catholic Church by her brother; Father Ronald Benoit in Burlington, Vermont to Daniel Frank Burns. Together they had one son.

Virginia ("Ginny") and Daniel ("Dan") met at General Electric where both were then employed.

After marriage, they lived briefly in San Diego and Connecticut, but she was a lifelong Vermonter with french ancestry from northeastern Canada dating back to France in the middle ages. She was an avid skier in the winter and enjoyed the sun, the water, and the mountains in the summer. Rarely a weekend went by when she would not be found in the mountains or near the lake or a stream.

Virginia worked part-time in banking and for General Electric, and full time as a skilled homemaker and cook. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends.

She was a devote catholic and dedicated to Christianity and praise of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In her final years she enjoyed traveling to places she hadn't seen outside of the New England area.

She was predeceased by her husband; Daniel Burns in 2018, two brothers; Paul and Ronald, one sister; Priscilla Davidson, and her parents; Louis Charles and Rose Hilda many years earlier.

Burial will follow at the Resurrection Park Cemetery in South Burlington, Vt.
