Harry A. Mullins, 86, of Stroud Township, passed away early Saturday morning, May 15, 2021 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Patricia Joan (O'Connell) Mullins whom passed away March 26, 2013, they had celebrated 57 years of marriage prior to her death.

Born in Stroudsburg on June 18, 1934, he was the son of the late John C. and Kathryn (Albert) Mullins and a life long resident of Stroudsburg except for four years in Kentucky when he was a child.

He was a Stroudsburg High School graduate of the class of 1952. After graduation he attended insurance school in Baltimore, MD, conducted by a major insurance company. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, despite being drafted by the United States Army (without his parents knowledge). He completed 12 weeks of boot camp at Parris Island, South Carolina. He was then retained at Parris Island due to the fact that the Korean War had just ended. He went to field music school while he was at Parris Island. Upon graduating from music school first in his class he was retained as an instructor. He was later named as the "Bugle Master" of the Drum & Bugle corps in charge of all rehearsals and formation of approximately 80 troop members.

He was transferred to the commandant's own United States Marine Drum & Bugle Corps at the ceremonial post of the corps in Washington, DC, in March of 1955, where he played one on the lead soprano horns. He was honored to be one of the two buglers to play taps at Arlington National Cemetery for dignitaries. He was promoted to the rank of sergeant after 26 months. He joined the Marine Corps as he needed discipline and responsibility and said that was the best decision he made in his life. On August 18, 2017 the United States Marine Corps presented Harry with a special commendation honoring him for his service after the evening parade attended by about 5,000 people.

While stationed in Washington, DC he met his wife to be at a dance, which was a special celebration of the British Royal Marine Band, the President's own United States Marine Corps Band and the Commandant's own United States Marine Drum & Bugle Corps. They were married four months after they met and moved back to Stroudsburg in 1956.

Harry with his wife Patt, established the Harry A. Mullins Insurance Agency in July 1972 in the dining room of their home after Harry resigned from his prior employer.

Harry was an active member of St. Matthew's Roman Catholic Church in East Stroudsburg. He served as a founding member of their finance council for 24 years, and also served on several other committees.

He served on the Board of the IIAP (Independent Insurance Agents of Pennsylvania), formed, managed and pitched the St. Luke's softball team in the Monroe County church league. He was named the Grand Marshall of the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in 1983.

He also played trumpet for two years in a dance band at Sky-Hi Lodge in a local quartet, organized the first junior drum & bugle corps in Monroe County history and instructed three senior drum & bugle corps in the Stroudsburg's and Roseto. He played taps at funerals for many years in Monroe County.

Harry enjoyed Notre Dame football, Kentucky basketball, Phillies baseball and was an avid Philadelphia Eagles football fan. An integral part of his life was following the Philadelphia Eagles football team to both home and away games where he and his wife became good friends with Vince Papale, Ron Jaworski, Harold Carmichael and Mike Dougherty; the video director for the Eagles. He also became a good acquaintance of former head coach Dick Vermeil, general manager Jim Murray, public relations director Jim Gallagher and many other players and management personnel.
