William Raymond "Bill" Lauber, 65, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, at Wichita County Medical Center in Leoti.

He was born Dec. 21, 1941 in Scott City, to John Peter and Rosalia Sarah Pfeifer Lauber.

A lifetime resident of Leoti, Mr. Lauber retired in May from his job as chief engineer of the Wichita County Sanitary Landfill. He was of the Catholic faith.

Survivors include two sisters, Sylvia Taylor and Janie Dizmang, both of Leoti; and numerous stepchildren, stepgrandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti, with the Rev. Benjamin Martin officiating. Inurnment was in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Marienthal.
