Mrs. Brenda LaVerne Scott Moore departed her earthly home on Monday, May 3, 2021 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina. Graveside services will be held on Monday, May 10, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Elm Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Reidsville, NC. Public viewing will be held on Sunday, May 9, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McLaurin Memorial Chapel.

Brenda Laverne Scott Moore was born April 19, 1949 in Eden, NC to Evelyn Golden Scott and Benjamin Scott. She attended Booker T. Washington High School in Reidsville, NC and graduated with the class of 1967. After high school, she attended Rockingham Community College where she received several certificates.

Brenda met and married, the love of her life and soul mate, the late Samuel E. Moore, and spent 50 wonderful years together. From their union they raised two children, Sam, Jr ("Binky") and Marcia ("Marcey"), and spoiled two grandchildren Gabriel and Erin. Brenda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister and aunt and friend. She loved being around her family, planning family gatherings and dinners. She loved cooking for her family and loved to laugh. She was indeed the life of the party.

Brenda was a woman of God who loved the Lord with all of her heart. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Elm Grove Baptist Church, where she served on many committees and organizations including the Senior Missionary Group, the Willing Workers Missionary Group, the Nurses Aid Committee and was a former member of the Gospel Choir and the Mass Choir and served as former president of the Ever Ready Missionary Group. She dedicated her life to mission work. Brenda was a dedicated Sunday School member and Prayer Meeting Scholar and faithfully attended BSF Bible School. She was a devoted Deaconess who understood her calling and was proud to serve the members of Elm Grove Baptist Church. She loved attending the Guilford Education Missionary Baptist Association, and the Lott Carey Missionary Convention every year. Moreover, she loved God, her Pastors and church family with all her heart.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her loving husband Samuel ("Puddin") Moore, whom she missed dearly.

Brenda is survived by: her daughter, Marcia Moore-Lyons (Howard Lyons) of Browns Summit, NC; her son, Samuel Moore Jr., of Reidsville, NC; grandson, Gabriel Lyons and granddaughter, Erin Lyons, both of Browns Summit, NC; sisters, Jackie Scott, of Greensboro, NC and Tonya Evans, of Reidsville, NC; brother, Ben Scott; goddaughter, Tawanna Cobb, of Eden, NC; godsons, William Hairston and James Hairston; sister-in-law, Ruth Davis, of Reidsville, NC; brother-in-law, Charles Moore, of Reidsville, NC; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.

Ashton and Yolanda McLaurin and the McLaurin Funeral Home staff at 721 East Morehead Street in Reidsville, NC are serving the family. Covid-19 precautions will be followed with social distancing, masks and sanitizing required
