Bavarian Prince,and member of parliament. In 1939 he was drafted into the German army, but in 1941 (as member of a royal family) discharged according to Hitler's "Prinzenerlass". 1942-44 he studied Law in Freiburg/Breisgau and worked afterwards at the State Court in Karlsruhe. After the assassination attempt on Hitler on 20 July 1944 he was taken into custody, but liberated in 1945 by Amarican troops. In 1947 he began his journalistic career working at the "Neue Revue", and "Süddeutschen Zeitung" and since 1963 with the "Bunte". He owned stocks at "Louis Hagen & Sohn - Bankhaus". He wrote a biography "Der Papst", of Pope Pius XII. , and wrote "Ohne Macht und Herrlichkeit".
Since 1961 he was a member of the CSU, and in 1962 became a member of the Bavarian Parliament. In 1965 he became a member of the Federal German parliament, where he worked until his untimely death following a plane crash in 1969 near Hechingen.

Originally buried in the St. Michael's Church in Munich, re-interred at the Wittelsbach Cemetery in 1977.
