Walter had a vast Military Career. As a Sergeant Major, he accumulated over 22 years of active federal service and retired from the Tennessee Army National Guard in February 2001. For the majority of his career he was stationed in the Tri-Cities, Tennessee area serving as a Recruiting and Retention NCO, supporting both the 176th Maintenance Battalion and 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment. With a military career spanning over 34 years, Walter retired as the Army National Guard Recruiting and Retention Sergeant Major, Joint Force Headquarters, Tennessee Army National Guard. He was a Past Commander of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 17, in Elizabethton, Carter County, TN and the American Legion "Kings Mountain" Post 24 in Johnson City.
My fondest memory of Walt is that he called all his Brothers-in-Arms: TIGER!!! So, here's back at'cha, TIGER... Nothing Is Ever Truly Forgotten!!! We Remember...
