Mr. Schmidt served with the U.S. Navy at the end of World War II. He was employed by Allied Corporation and as a maintenance painter tor the Michael Paint Company.
Survived by: his wife; a son, Dennis of Waterloo; a daughter, Pamela Mangin of Waterloo; five grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; two brothers, William and Arnold, both of Waterloo; and two sisters, Marie Schutte of Waterloo and Erna Miller of La Porte City.
Preceded in death by: three brothers, Otto, Richard and Wernold; and two sisters, Martha Bronner and Norma Eldo Schmidt Kohn.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with burial in the Garden of Memories. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Parrott & Wood Funeral I lome, and an hour before services Friday at the church.
