John Sheffield Pickens
August 27, 1949 - February 18, 2021

John Sheffield Pickens, 71 of Montgomery County, TX passed away on February 18, 2021 after a long battle with Covid-19. He was born to the late Don and Mary Ann Pickens in Jackson, Tennessee. John had an absolute love for life. He was incredibly social, loved talking and was known by many for his amazing stories. His extraordinary personality helped propel his lifelong sales and marketing career, which he entered into the 1970's after attending college and serving in the United States Marine Corps, which included a tour in Vietnam. John had many passions in his life. He loved creating beautiful outside atmospheres filled with colorful flowers for his wife, who loves flowers but lacks the ability to keep even one alive, and dogs who they both shared a passion for rescuing. Above all, his most favorite thing was the family he left behind. John is survived by his best friend and love of his life, Juliene Pickens who he was married to for almost 30 years. He is also survived by his four stepchildren Kyle Pollock, Lori Pinkerton, Janelle Durbin, and Jason Kaufman all who he was so proud of and loved as his own. He was also blessed with five amazing grandchildren, Hayley, Jeydon, Austin, Jordyn and Kendyl. In lieu of flowers consider donating to Animal Shelter Volunteers of Texas P.O. Box 476 Montgomery, TX 77356 in John's name.

Yesterday I lost my husband and best friend. He was another victim of Covid. After over a month in the hospital and over a three weeks on a ventilator his lungs were just too damaged to sustain life. The absolutely horrible part is on January 14th he went in the hospital and from that moment on I couldn't see him or touch him. He was all alone and that simply breaks my heart. There is going to be a huge space in my life that cannot ever be filled. I love you so much John Pickens
